<para>The Marie-Victorin Herbarium (MT) is the second largest university herbarium in Quebec, and ranks fourth among all Canadian herbaria. It includes about 680,000+ vascular plants. Half of the material is Canadian, but representation is global. Recently, the WAT herbarium was acquired and is now incorporated within MT, though specimens are still to be cited with the WAT acronym. The MT and WAT datasets are individually shown in the dataset, though they all belong to MT. The current dataset includes the 214,000+ digitized specimens from the collection.</para>

<para>Initially, legacy data had been formatted to fit the new database structure and cleaned as well as possible, though they still contain inconsistencies. They are being corrected both opportunistically and in a systematic manner for determinations and geography data. Inaccurate georeferenced data are currently being corrected. New records are entered using controlled vocabularies where relevant and should contain fewer errors. Data from donations are processed via a workbench and compared with the controlled vocabularies to ensure consistency. Specimens are validated by a taxonomist before databasing to ensure identification accuracy.</para>
