The ecological functionality of artificial pools in restored peatlands is poorly documented. In this study, we investigated arthropod assemblages of 21 artificial pools in a restored fen in southeastern Canada and 16 pools from four pristine fens as reference ecosystems. Three years following restoration, predacious diving beetles (Coleoptera: Dytiscidae) and spiders (Araneae) were sampled within and around pools using minnow traps and pitfall traps, respectively.

| 研究設計描述 | The Bic-Saint-Fabien site (lat 48°19’N, long 68°50’W) was a bog that underwent peat extraction from 1946 to 2000. It was restored as a fen in 2009-2010, using the moss layer transfer technique (González & Rochefort 2014). Four pristine fens, chosen on the basis of their proximity to the restored site and the presence of pools, were used as reference ecosystems. |

Sampling took place during summer of 2013 and 2014 in a restored fen and four pristine fens in the Lower Saint-Lawrence (Bas-Saint-Laurent) region, Québec, Canada. We used pitfall traps to sample ground-dwelling spiders and minnow traps to sample dytiscid beetles.
